ISLAMIC MARRIAGE MEDIATION / DISPUTE RESOLUTION SERVICE

We are currently trialling an Islamic marriage mediation / dispute resolution service.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that reconciling between people is better than observing voluntary fasts, offering voluntary prayers and giving voluntary charity.

What We Aim to Do:
  • Provide an opportunity for both parties to calmly air differences in a neutral setting in the presence of an independent facilitator/Imam.
  • Attempt to identify the root cause of the problem and mutually agree a way forward based on Islamic ethics.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Sign post to other organisations that may be able to help in specialist areas.
What We Are Unable to Do:
  • Give a judgement on a divorce proclamation or provide papers for divorce proceedings.
  • Get involved in disputes currently being pursued in the courts.
  • Persuade parties to attend the meeting.
  • Enter into correspondence.

Time and Place:
Meetings will be held at The IslamBradford Centre by appointment only, typically on a Sunday morning. Alternative times may be available by agreement. Any sisters attending must be in the presence of a mahram (male guardian).
Please email info@islambradford.com for enquiries.

Duration:
The duration of the meeting will not exceed one hour. Any follow up sessions will be by mutual agreement.

Fee:
A nominal £30 fee per session is payable one week in advance by bank transfer only.  The service is run on a non-profit basis. The fee will be forfeitted in the event of no show.

Disclaimer:
  • Any advice given is done so in good faith and is not in any way binding on either party.
  • The facilitator will be an Imam at the centre and is not a professional counsellor/mediator.
  • We acknowledge that this method of mediation is not suitable for every type of disagreement/dispute and it is up to the parties involved to make a judgement on the appropriateness of such a meeting taking place.

“And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah’s Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (signs) clear to you, that you may be guided”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:103]

“And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength departs, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are patient".
