Zakat ul Fitr and Qiyam ul Lail

We will be collecting Zakatul Fitr at £3 per head (our recommended rate) for one week commencing Monday 4 June after Tarawih at IB and Jumuah this week. All monies will be handed over to Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) for distribution as food stuffs to the poor and needy on the Day of Eid. Alternatively, you can donate your Zakatul Fitr directly to UWT online: http://www.uwt.org/site/project_details.asp?id=138

Common Q&A regarding Zakatul Fitr:

1) Sadaqatul Fitr and Zakatul Fitr are the same thing.
2) Zakatul Fitr is not Zakat (this is a separate obligation payable on your wealth).
3) Zakatul Fitr is payable on behalf of all members of the family, regardless of whether they were fasting or not. E.g. A family of five will pay = £3 * 5 = £15.
4) The one who has delayed arranging his Zakatul Fitr till the Eid prayer has sinned.
5) Zakatul Fitr in accordance with the Sunnah should be given as food stuffs and not as money.

Qiyamul Lail programme commencing (5th June) Tuesday night at 1-10am till 1-55am. Suhoor will be provided inshAllah.
