REVIEW: 2nd KHUTBAH TRAINING SEMINAR

On Sunday 20th April 2008 IslamBradford held its 2nd Khutbah Training Seminar.

The seminar was the sequel to the 1st Khutbah Training Seminar that was held over three consecutive Sundays in November of last year. The Jummuah prayer is considered to be the most important gathering for Muslims during the week, and the Jummuah khutbah (Friday sermon) is for many Muslims an ideal opportunity to increase their faith and learn more about the relevant issues facing them in their lives.

The aim of the seminar was to review the necessary skills required to give an effective khutbah according to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The seminar provided the ideal setting for potential khateebs to learn the rules and regulations related to the khutbah itself. Practical tips and guidelines were also offered on how to give outstanding khutbahs that will be of benefit to the community.

After a recap of the fiqh related to the Jummuah khutbah, there were opportunities for attendees to showcase the knowledge learnt from the previous seminar by delivery of practice khutbahs. Feedback was then given on how to improve the sermons for the future.

Look out for IslamBradford’s new improved khateeb lineup coming soon to a mimbar near you!
