Review: To And From Guantanamo Bay

Imagine being abducted in the middle of the night from your home and being taken away without explanation, and finding yourself imprisoned for years without any right to trial - this is precisely what happened to Brother Moazzam Begg.

On Sunday 24th May 2008, Brother Moazzam Begg visited the IslamBradford Centre to relate his first hand personal experiences of being held at Guantanamo Bay in solitary confinement for three years. The presentation was grim at times and a stark reminder of the ongoing oppression of Muslim prisoners around the world.

Brother Moazzam’s visit was part of his work with UK charity Cage Prisoners (www.cageprisoners.com) to highlight the plight of those detained in the UK and around the world, in many cases without trial or redress to legal process. At the end of the event a successful collection was made on behalf of Cage Prisoners.  The video for the event will be available for viewing on our website inshAllah towards the end of the month.

We ask Allah to alleviate the situation of all those who are oppressed around the world. Ameen.
